7 Divisions of Scripture

Many years ago I learned the most effective method, I have ever personally come across, for actively staying in the full counsel of “The Scriptures”, receiving the greatest amount of revelation and retaining the greatest amount of revelation after it is received.

I began to read through “The Scriptures” by division as I have listed below.  When I read a chapter in one division I would move on to the next division until I have completed one chapter from each division.  Then I return to the first division.  When I reach the last chapter of any of the divisions I start over again from the beginning of that division.  In this manner I cycle though each division several times each year.  Some more often than others.

This accomplishes two very important things.  1) I never get bored because I am trying to read a book of “The Scripture” straight through all at once and thus quit. e.g. The genealogical records in Neheymah.  2) Because I am constantly reading from division to division I see the Heavenly tapestry connecting every “Scripture” in “The Scriptures” to every other “Scripture”.

Since I have begun reading “The Scriptures” translation I have modified my readings to accommodate the differing order of the books in the TaNaKh as compared to other translations.  However, I still read my “Scriptures” by division and thus I get the maximum benefit out of my reading and studying.

1. The TORAH: Bereshith / Genesis, Shemoth / Exodus, Way yiqra/ Leviticus, Bemidbar / Numbers, Debarim / Deuteronomy

2. The History: Yahoshua / Joshua, Judges, Ruth, 1^st & 2^nd Shemuel / Samuel, 1^st& 2^nd Kings, 1^st & 2^nd Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther

6. The Gospels + Acts: Mattithyahu / Matthew, Mark, Luke, Yahonan / John, Acts

7. The Epistles: Romans, 1^st & 2^nd Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1^st & 2^nd Thessalonians, 1^st & 2^nd Timothy, Titus, Philemon, Hebrew, James, 1^st & 2^nd Peter, 1^st, 2^nd & 3^rd John, Jude, Revelation.
